Brass Worm-gear Winding Mechanism
Mystery Object! Seems to be designed for rope, maybe for an outdoor awning or umbrella. Too small and low a gear ratio for a sailboat.
Gorgeous heavy brass mechanism. 1 rotation on the worm-gear is ~5 degrees.
Base plate is 6" by 2.5" with 4 countersunk screw holes.
